RSG New Zealand Expands Services to the South Island

RSG New Zealand is pleased to announce the upcoming opening of the RSG Dunedin Donor Centre, bringing advanced reproductive services closer to breeders across New Zealand’s South Island.

The new facility will provide professionally managed donor housing and access to reproductive technologies including Multiple Ovulation Embryo Transfer (MOET) and Transvaginal Recovery of Oocytes (TVR/OPU). Flexible donor stay options will be available, ranging from day visits to longer-term housing programs.

This expansion reflects RSG New Zealand’s commitment to increasing access to elite genetic services and supporting producers with innovative reproductive solutions.

“The opening of the Dunedin Donor Centre is an exciting step forward for RSG New Zealand and our South Island clients,” said Leandro Arreseigor, RSG New Zealand Reproductive Technician. “This facility will allow us to better support breeders with advanced reproductive technologies while providing greater convenience and access to RSG services closer to home.”

A Message From Our Interim General Manager

Calving Season is Here — Happy, Healthy Calves Start with Good Management

With calving season underway, recipient cows carrying ET calves need close attention. A few key practices make all the difference:

  • Know your due dates and keep clear records of pregnancy origin, scan results, and any risk factors
  • Prepare your environment — clean, well-bedded, and safe
  • Have everything ready — calving equipment and your Reproductive Technician’s number within easy reach
  • Watch closely and intervene promptly if dystocia is suspected
  • Record every calving event for traceability and future planning
  • Contact your local Reproductive Technician’s early for any urgent concerns

Growing Our Team, Maintaining Our Standards

We’ve recently welcomed new team members and will continue investing in our people, facilities, and capabilities. As demand for advanced reproductive technologies grows, our commitment to quality, integrity, and personalised support remains unchanged.

Whether you’re planning embryo transfer programs, semen collection, storage, or breeding strategies for the season ahead — we’re here to help.

Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to working alongside you and contributing to the success of your operation.

The Reproductive Technician’s Perspective on This Season

Leandro Arreseigor | RSG Reproductive Technician

“Our focus this season is driving strong results and setting our clients up for continued success,” said Leandro Arreseigor, RSG Reproductive Technician.

The season is off to an exceptional start, with our IVP lab operational early this year and working with in-calf cows sooner than ever before. This early momentum has allowed us to establish a strong foundation ahead of the busiest part of the breeding season.

To date, we have seen outstanding results, including impressive embryo production and strong pregnancy rates across a wide range of programs. These outcomes reflect the dedication of our team and the continued commitment of our clients to advancing their genetic goals.

Looking ahead, we are excited about the opportunities still to come, including the development of our new South Island donor centre. This expansion will enhance our ability to serve clients across New Zealand and further strengthen the reproductive services available through RSG.

Javier Balladares | RSG Reproductive Technician

“The small ruminant season progressed smoothly this year,” said Balladares. “Overall numbers were consistent with those of last season, and the business continues to demonstrate strong stability in both animals inseminated and the support of our regular client base.”

RSG NZ saw an increase in flushing activity compared to 2025, driven primarily by export embryo programs, with additional support from domestic demand. We also experienced a strong volume of semen collections from both rams and bucks throughout the season. Overall, the season has been a very positive one, with encouraging growth and strong results across our reproductive programs.

Pricing Update Effective July 1, 2026

At RSG NZ, our clients are at the heart of everything we do. The relationships we have built with producers across New Zealand are incredibly important to us, and we remain committed to providing the highest level of service and support.

To ensure we can continue delivering the quality you expect from our team, we have recently completed a review of our service pricing. Following this review, some pricing adjustments will take effect beginning July 1, 2026. We have worked diligently to keep these changes as minimal as possible while maintaining the high standards of service our clients deserve.

We appreciate your continued trust and partnership. If you have any questions regarding your account or billing, please contact our office at [email protected]. For general inquiries, our team can be reached at [email protected].

Thank you for choosing RSG NZ. We look forward to continuing to support your breeding program and production goals.

Embryo & Semen Inventory Update

The Despatch team is hard at work completing a comprehensive stock take of inventory at RSG New Zealand as we prepare to launch the RSG Genetics Inventory Platform.

This major undertaking involves counting and verifying semen, vitrified embryos, and frozen embryo straws stored across more than 100 tanks. Our inventory spans multiple decades and includes valuable genetics from bovine, equine, caprine, ovine, and canine species. The stock take will ensure accurate records and help facilitate a smooth transition to our new platform.
