Numbers Are Up for 2026 NZ DairyEvent

Momentum is building for the 2026 NZ DairyEvent, with exhibitor and entry numbers up nearly 10% compared to last year—an encouraging sign of confidence and enthusiasm across New Zealand’s dairy sector.

A total of 403 animals have been entered for the event, up from 364 in 2025, with ten additional exhibitors also tabling their interest.

The event will be held at Manfeild from Sunday, January 25, through Wednesday, January 28, and organizers are preparing for a busy and exciting week.

Event official Isaac Kelsen noted that the continued growth reflects the passion within the New Zealand dairy industry. While accommodating the increased numbers presents logistical challenges, he shared that the team is well prepared and views it as a positive problem to solve. Kelsen also highlighted his excitement in welcoming international judges, fitters, and cattle enthusiasts from around the world.

International Lead Judges – 2026

  • Ayrshire: Scott Braendler (Australia)
  • Combined Breeds: Brent Crothers (United Kingdom)
  • Jersey: Wayne Kuhne (Australia)
  • Holstein: Brian Carscadden (Canada)

With strong growth across multiple breeds and increasing international involvement, the 2026 NZ DairyEvent is shaping up to be one of the most dynamic showcases of dairy genetics and excellence yet.

Sheep and Goat Season

sheep farm

As the summer progresses, RSG NZ begins to focus on the sheep and goat breeding season, which peaks in March.

Sheep AI

Bookings are solid for the coming season for sheep AI, where we inseminate several thousand sheep laparoscopically with mostly frozen semen, mostly on farm. RSG teams will inseminate 100-250 ewes per team in a day. Insemination is fixed time following synchrony.

Laparoscopic AI is an important tool for the sheep breeding industry to:

·        Import / make good use of superior sires.

·        Improve linkage of performance data between farms

Ram Centre

RSG operates a ram collection centre where up to 100 rams may be housed for freezing semen.

Embryo Transfer

The RSG NZ team also carries out embryo transfer both on centre and on farm. Bookings are coming in for this service.

Did you know?

RSG maintains export approval for sheep semen and embryos.
